My art is a result of my need to express myself beyond the realms of my architectural training and the restricted realms of technical drawing which has been the mainstay of my career. My innate creativity has grasped the passion for different media experimentation and the compulsion to paint has expressed itself in various styles, which is still in an artistic whirlpool finding its natural channel.

 

My paintings reinterpret reality and provide a soft-focus dream experience and representation evocative of places but are intentionally loose to enhance various emotions. As emotions can be translated into textures and colours each painting is unique in its expression whether in acrylic or watercolour. My work is an exploration of the world through abstracted forms, illusory cityscapes, created by intentional randomness allowed in the paint flow through layered poured acrylic or free flowing watercolours. Both media facilitate broad colour forms and layered colour droplets of paint teased into position but allowed to evolve into the final form during the drying process. My acrylic pour paintings are finished with a glossy resin coating covering the canvas artwork preserving the colour and creating a shimmering vivid finish. I have also experimented in finishing my watercolours with a resin gloss.

 

Diomedes.art was created as my alter ego creating my parallel reality as an artist for expression of a dual existence that can be experienced whilst viewing, and this is the mystical power of art and my aim is to reveal this via a dialogue between the viewer and creator.
